For months we witnessed the injustices and suffering of Burmese refugees and migrants. We reached the decision to create the Colabora Birmanias as a means to work professionally and help them to improve their lives.
To this NGO, we bring our knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to improve the living conditions for Burmese people who have been displaced in Thailand as a result of on of the most atrocious yet little known conflicts in Asia.
Who we are
Mae Sot has the highest concentration of Burmese refugee and migrant communities. Burmese people attempt to escape the poverty and oppression of their own country by crossing the river that separates them from Thailand. Many come to Thailand in the hope that they will be able to build a better life for themselves and their families.
